In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Neil.
Dolores is survived by her sibling, Arlene James, Lila James, Mary Ann Jeffers, Anthony (Nita) James and Margaret (Wallace) Simmons.
After graduating from West Point High School in 1956 she attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing followed by employment as a registered nurse there in orthopedics for about 10 years.
She moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1967 where she was employed as a staff nurse for a number of years then progressed to Head Charge nurse on the medical unit of Boulder Memorial Hospital. Dolores had a gift of genuine care, love and concern for patients, doctors and other hospital personnel for over 30 years.
She married Bill Neil in 1968 and they enjoyed skiing, camping, dancing, motorcycling and an active social life. After retiring, they moved south to be close to family. In Lagrange, Dolores was active in Newcomers, the local gym, volunteering at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Ala. as a patient advocate and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Dolores was loved deeply by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 8, 2024 at St. Peters Catholic Church in LaGrange, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors in her honor.
