Edward Waldrop

July 7, 1929 – August 14, 2025

Edward "Ed" Waldrop, 96, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.

Born on July 12, 1929, in Wedowee, Alabama, Ed was the beloved son of the late Ocie Daniel Waldrop and Eugie Mariah Waldrop. He dedicated 45 years of service to Milliken before retiring to spend his time doing what he loved most—being with family.

Ed found joy in the simple pleasures of life: tinkering with small engines and tending to his garden. He was known for his warm heart, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his loved ones. Family was his greatest source of pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma May Waldrop; his parents; sons Wayne Waldrop and Gerald Waldrop; six brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his son, Gary (Tracy) Waldrop; daughters, Diane (Larry) Womack and Barbara Price; and his brother, Rurel Waldrop. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Courtney (Shawn) Allen, Whitney (Wes) Adcock, Cassidy Fomby, Monica Emory, Katie (Shane) Tanner, Andrew (Mindy) Womack, and Lori (Craig) Forster; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A gathering of family and friends for Edward will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, LaGrange, Georgia. A celebration of life service will occur Monday, August 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM, LaGrange, Georgia 30241. A committal service will occur Monday, August 18, 2025 at Restlawn Memory Gardens, LaGrange, Georgia.
