Era Worley Floyd

Mrs. Floyd was born May 27, 1918 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Frazier Dee and Lillie Melton Worley. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of the Oak Grove Congregational Christian Church. Mrs. Floyd was a Registered Nurse and worked for the Troup County Health Department for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bennett Floyd and five sisters, Myrtie W. Lee, Flossie W. Denney, Cassie W. Wright, Dorothy W. Downs and Ruby W. Hoxsie.

Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Floyd Parkhurst of Pine Mountian; grandsons, Adam (Lillie) Parkhurst, Ashton Parkhurst, and Christopher Parkhurst, all of Texas; and nieces, Jo Ann Floyd of Austell, Barbara ‘Bobbie’ Durham of Dawsonville and Frazier Sollars of LaGrange.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Oak Grove Congregational Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Lamar Truitt officiating.

The family will be at their home, 1943 Oak Grove Road, and will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Chipley F&AM Lodge #40 or West Georgia Hospice in memory of Era Worley Floyd.
