Evelyn "Lynn" (Dunlap) Sprayberry

October 19, 1929 – January 6, 2022

Evelyn P. (Dunlap) Sprayberry, known in the LaGrange/Troup County area as Lynn Dunlap or Lynn Sprayberry (from 2010).

Born on October 19, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia, Evelyn Ruby Powledge was raised by her parents William R. and Evelyn A. Powledge along with her older sister Miriam Sue Powledge (d. 2007). After completing high school Lynn moved to Atlanta and then Roswell, Georgia.

She modeled for department stores (i.e., Sears, Sacks 5th Avenue, etc.) then obtained her Georgia Real Estate License in 1961 and represented families (private) and businesses (commercial) clients in DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties with seeking and/selling of family homes or property.

She met Lloyd E. Dunlap (d. 2005) in 1972 while serving on the sales team for Screamer Mountain Development Corporation in Rabun County. They later married on December 30, 1976. Together, Lynn and Lloyd started Oak Mountain Development Corporation (1977) in Harris County/ Waverly Hall, Georgia as well as Dunlap Enterprises, Inc. (1978). In addition, from the late 80’s to the late 90’s Lynn and Lloyd owned/operated True Southern Barbeque located in Manchester, Georgia.

They moved to LaGrange, Georgia in 1999, and transferred their membership from First Baptist Church of Warm Springs, GA to First Baptist on the Square in LaGrange, GA. Also in1999, they opened Counseling Services of LaGrange, Inc. with the goal of providing the community of LaGrange/Troup County a ministry through Christian/faith-based counseling, marriage and family therapy, as well as recovery from addiction and other hurts, habits, or hang-ups.

Four years of mourning followed the loss of Lloyd in 2005. In 2009 Lynn met Mr. Hugh O. Sprayberry (d. 2018) at a Sunday School mixer with Trinity on the Hill UMC. They married in October 2010. She remains a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.

Lynn is survived by her four sons; Bryan E. Dunlap, Lloyd E. Dunlap, Jr., Shannon K. Dunlap, and Jay M. Dunlap; her grandchildren: Breanna L. Dunlap, Bryan E. Dunlap Jr., L’loyd E. Dunlap, James “Carlton” Dunlap, Zachary R. Dunlap Lynn is survived by her sons: Bryan E. Dunlap, Lloyd E. Dunlap, Jr., Zachary R. Dunlap, Daniel J. Dunlap, and Hanna J. Dunlap; and her great grandchildren; Kai Dunlap and Forrest Dunlap.
