Mrs. Brooks was born February 16, 1923 in Lanett, AL, daughter of the late Robert Charlie Smith and Nettie Frances McGowan Smith. She lived in LaGrange most of her life before moving to Athens 16 years ago. She worked as a Nurses Aid at West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruby (Larry) Ward of LaGrange and Sherry Brooks of Athens; a son, Hilton (Linda) Brooks of Franklin; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Monday, January 30 , 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA in memory of Frances Louise Brooks.
