Gerald William Morrison, Sr.

Mr. Gerald William Morrison, Sr., 89, of LaGrange passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Morrison was born May 22, 1924 in Randolph County, AL, son of the late Ligon James Morrison and Rilma Currie Morrison. He was a charter member of Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church and was the owner and operator of G.W. Morrison’s Grocery and Hardware Store. Mr. Morrison was a U.S. Air Force Veteran where he served in War World II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Huff and Theo Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elvira Hester Morrison of LaGrange; son, Gerald Morrison, Jr. and his wife Tora Morrison of Chesnee, SC; two grandchildren, Adrienne Morrison of Columbia, SC and Jennifer Maskill and her husband Adam Maskill of Fort Mill, SC; one great grandson, Hudson Maskill of Fort Mill, SC; step mother, Lavelle Morrison of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Restlawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Wayne Hester officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church, 2771 West Point Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 in memory of Gerald William Morrison, Sr.

I have fond memories growing up in long cane community and visiting mr. morrisons grocery an goying to school with gerold. mr and mrs morrison were wonderful people and I know he will be truly missed by all who knew him. mike wells usnps retired .

Uncle Gerald was a remarkable man. Served his country as well as his community. I will never forget all the memories he gas givin us through the years. His love for his flowers, certain antiques, his farm and his family was impossible to measure. I love you and will miss you.
