Glennis Capes O'Neal

Mrs. O’Neal was born March 11, 1939 in Wedowee, AL, daughter of the late “Buster” Glenn Creed and Hattie Lee Boyd Creed. She was a member of Gods Open Door House of Praise and was employed with the LaGrange Housing Authority as the property manager before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Capes and her second husband, James O’Neal, and her sister, Willie Faye Martin.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Vayda; son, Timothy Capes (Kathy); step-daughters, Sheila Hewett (Frank), Debbie Schmidt (Col. Edward Schmidt, Ret.); step-son, Lenny O’Neal (Dot); grandchildren, Josh Capes (Sally), Tabitha Smith, Ashley Mashburn (Keysa), Brandon Kyle Mashburn, Scarlet Cindrick, and Tyler Vayda (Jessica); step-grandchilren, Brandon Jackson (Amber) and Kyle Hale; great grandchildren, Annabelle Kaiser, Cadence Smith, Julie Smith, Marianna Capes, and Hank Murphy; sisters, Margie Sue Creed and Gaynelle Wingard (Wendall); brother, Buford Creed (Dorthia); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA with Pastor Leonard Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
