On August 11, 2025, H. Larry Neighbors moved to his heavenly home. He was the devoted husband of Faye Capes Neighbors, and the proud and loving father to Randy Neighbors, Rhonda Neighbors McClellan, and Ray Neighbors.
Larry was born on February 8, 1940 to J.D. and Christine Neighbors. He is the identical twin brother of Harry Neighbors (deceased). He grew up in LaGrange, Georgia and attended Troup High School.
He joined the USAFSS in 1958, serving in the AFISR (Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency). Larry, his wife and children, lived around the world during his military career. In addition to devotion to his family and career, he was involved in community activities, serving alongside Faye as Directors of the Grass Mountain Teen Club in Taiwan, the Secretary of the Bowling League, Director of Taiwan Teen Challenge, and many other community and church volunteer activities. Larry retired as a Master Sergeant from the USAFSS in 1978 after 20 years of honorable service as a “Silent Warrior”. He also served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Larry went on to co-manage a finance company with his wife, Faye, where they excelled and won many awards, until their retirement.
Larry delighted in being a dad and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Randy and Rhonda; his daughter-in-law Jody Neighbors, son-in-law Steve McClellan, as well as his grandchildren: Nikki Neighbors Hickman and husband Ben, Matthew McClellan and wife Amanda, Gage Neighbors, Michael McClellan and wife Erin, Justin Neighbors and wife Kinsley, Zach Neighbors, Kevin Neighbors, great grandchildren Dylan Hickman, Kole Hickman, Asher and Adalyn Rae Neighbors.
Larry achieved numerous high praises and many high honors in his military career. In his personal life, he authentically demonstrated this same standard of excellence! In fact, he was sure to pass his high standards to his children, making sure they understood the need for excellence even in properly making a bed and organizing a closet with military precision.
Further, he lived an exemplary life of leadership and love. His love story with his wife, Faye, is summed up by this scripture: “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” Proverbs 18:22
His commitment was displayed as he cared for his true love, Faye, in her several years of ill health. Upon her passing in 2014, he grieved deeply, yet, he grieved with hope, looking forward to the time he would again see her in heaven with Jesus. Larry loved Jesus and was expectantly awaiting Christ’s return. The loss of his son, Ray, in 2023, further advanced his longing for Jesus and the reuniting with his wife and son, and other loved ones. He was a prayer warrior for his children and grandchildren as he awaited this heavenly reunion, faithfully advocating for them in daily prayer.
In life, Larry went above and beyond to affirm his children and grandchildren, demonstrating faithfulness, and unconditional love to them.
Larry was a quiet man in that he did not seek attention for his exemplary service. He lived what he believed: Love of God, love of wife and family, and love of his country. He will always be highly regarded and cherished by his children and family.
The immediate family will celebrate the life of Larry Neighbors at a private ceremony. They are grateful for your prayers as they grieve with hope.

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 15"We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18So encourage each other with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
