Harold "Buddy" Loyd
February 20, 1931 – June 8, 2019
Harold Childs “Buddy” Loyd, 88, of LaGrange, GA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Mr. Loyd was born February 20, 1931 to the late Rebie Dixon Loyd and Hamilton Traylor Loyd. He attended Center School, and graduated from Berry College in 1953 with a degree in English. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After teaching high school for a year, he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. His second career was as a handyman, using his skills around LaGrange for many years.
Buddy was a life-long member of Loyd Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, an elder, and as church treasurer for 50 years. He was also a choir member for 60 years, and served for several years as choir director. An avid tennis player for many years, Buddy was a regular at the Callaway tennis courts, and most recently at the McCluskey Tennis Center. He passed on his love of tennis to all four of his girls. He was well-known for his sense of humor and his ready laugh, and his love for his family and his God were unsurpassed.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine Johnson Loyd; his four daughters - Laura (Kenneth) Boggs, Eleanor (Patrick) Thompson, Emily (Nasor) Mansour and Lynn (Mike) Pauley; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Woodley, Whitney (Jim) Davis, Marianna Boggs, John (Katie) Mansour, Will (Amanda) Mansour, Joseph Mansour, Patrick (Jaclyn) Thompson, Jim Thompson, Jake (Sarah) Pauley, Emily Pauley and Annie Pauley; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara Hopson and Helen Loyd, both of LaGrange, and by his sister-in-law Jan Loyd Richmond of East Wenatchee, Washington. Harold "Buddy" Loyd
June 21, 2019
Buddy was there, when Daddy died, to offer his help to my family. I no longer lived in LaGrange, and didn’t know who to call for house repairs. If Buddy couldn’t do it, he knew someone who could, from simple jobs to replacing the roof. Mother was able to continue to live in her home. Without Buddy’s help, this would have been impossible. He proved to be a good friend to the Turner Family. We will always have a special place in our hearts for Buddy and Jo Loyd.

I have fond memories of "fish fry" get togethers of neighbors and post office people when I was a little girl. Mr. Lloyd was a good friend to my parents (Wayne and Grace Cadenhead) and always kind to us. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

Cousin Jo, Emily, Eleanor, Laura, and Lynn: Please know that you are in my deepest thoughts and prayers at this time. Cousin Buddy was a true and well-rounded gentleman. This world will be a bit the less without his presence. Bill Pruitt

Pat and I are so sorry we are not there to be with you all. Mr. Loyd was such a kind and pleasant gentleman and a part of our family for well over 30 years.
Knowing that Mr. Loyd is at peace without pain is a true blessing. Emily, we are always here for you and your family. Love, Carol and Pat Ezzell

One of the many legacies a person can have is the family they have raised. Buddy Loyd’s girls and their children are testimony to his character. His love for family and his God are evidenced in them. Ed and I will keep the family in our prayers.
