Mrs. Barnes was born March 9, 1932 in LaGrange, GA to the late James Monroe Murphy and Nannelle Thompson Murphy. She was a member of Oakside Baptist Church and retired from Milliken & Company as a hostess at the Design Center and Guest House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Morris Barnes.
