Mrs. Shirey was born August 11, 1937 in LaGrange, Georgia, daughter of the late Henry Lee Langford and Ellen Inez Ozburn Langford. She was a member of Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church where she played the piano for over 15 years. Mrs. Shirey was employed with Milliken and Company before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Shirey, and two sisters, Sandra Langford Madore and Marie Langford Janney.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Renee Shirey Waites (Rickey); grandchildren, Josh Waites (Brittany) and Ryan Waites (fiancé, Destiny Andrews); great grandchildren, Cheyenne Waites and Eliza Waites; and several nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA with Rev. Chris Wilkie officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
