Our Lord welcomed Jimmie Morris Hester to heaven on March 12, 2021. He lived life to the fullest with his greatest joys being his family, working in his yard and playing tennis. He was a wonderful husband and father. Mr. Hester was born January 2, 1936 in Dublin, Georgia the son of Henry and Lois Murchison Hester. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Textiles and later a Master of Science in Textile Chemistry. Mr. Hester was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. Mr. Hester served in the United States Army and completed a tour of duty in Korea. He began his career with Callaway Mills in LaGrange, Ga and retired from Milliken. Mr. Hester was married to the love of his life Mary Frances Jackson for 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Elizabeth Farley and Juanita Fulghum. He is survived by his wife Mary Frances, son Jim Hester (Nancy) of Kansas City, KS, daughters Fran Camille (Chris) of Hattiesburg, MS and Anne Sefton (Pat) of Montgomery, AL along with 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A private family and close friends memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church in LaGrange. The family will receive visitors at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange on Tuesday, March 16th between 5:00 and 6:30.
