Joey was born on October 27, 1962, in LaGrange, GA, son of Diane Smith Lane and the late Freddie Herbert Lane.
Joey was a dedicated family man and was a friend to everyone. He took pride in all that he done, even being in the Boy Scouts at a young age. Joel’s caring and protective spirit lead him to become a Firefighter in 1982, serving the City of LaGrange until 1988. He transferred to the City of Atlanta Fire Department and retired in 2016 as Captain. Joel influenced many people during his lifetime and will be greatly missed. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Travis Lane.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Kelly Lane; daughter, Summer Lane; nieces, Emily Moore (Brandon McNeeley) and Lillian (Wesley) Cooley; sister, Cindy (Randy) Anderson; nephew, Michael (Aaron) Kitchens; niece, Michelle Kitchens; great nephews, Hunter Kitchens and Tyler Kitchens; great niece, Haley Kitchens; numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. The Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00pm Monday, July 14, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Evans officiating.
