John Andrew Soltis

John was born February 25, 1935 in Bayonne, New Jersey, son of the late Andrew Soltis and Anna Fedor Soltis. He earned his bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1956, where he met the love of his life, Sarah, at a Tupperware party. John participated in ROTC and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He was employed with Milliken & Co. for 44 years as a Chemical Engineer, before retiring in 2003. John enjoyed playing golf, doing wood working projects, and was an avid sports fan. He had a special love for animals, especially his dog "Annie", who never missed a walk. Of all his passions, the greatest joy he received was spending time with those he loved. John's loving care and devotion to his daughter Jennifer and his wife Sarah through their extended illnesses was a manifestation of his character. He lived truly the vows "for better or for worse" and "till death do us part". John celebrated his faith at the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Smith Soltis; daughter, Jennifer Soltis Trizzino; and a brother, Andrew Soltis.

Survivors include his son, David Soltis; daughter, Karen (Paul) Tobben; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Soltis, John Tobben, Daniel Tobben, and Michael Tobben; sisters, Margie Demyanovich and Eleanor Kimak; other relatives and friends.

The Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, with Dr. Harold Lawrence officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First United Methodist Church of LaGrange or LaGrange Humane Society in memory of Mr. John Andrew Soltis.
