Kathy was born in Clendenin, West Virginia and grew up Gainesville and Athens, Georgia. She graduated from Cedar Shoals High School in Athens and received a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia. While at Georgia she was a member of the Georgettes with the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. She later taught in the public schools of Union and Barnwell, South Carolina and at LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, Georgia.
Kathy was blessed with many talents especially in art and music. She was a gifted musician and willingly gave of her time and talents to her church, local schools and community. She truly enjoyed singing and playing her guitar for St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was actively involved in the music ministry.
She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was most proud of her five children and creating a welcoming home for her husband, children, family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband Patrick Michael Kelly; her children, Patrick Michael Kelly, Jr. (Jamie) of Atlanta, GA, Kara Helen Kelly of Nashville, TN, Grayson Coleman Kelly of Young Harris, GA, Joseph Weathers Kelly of Tallahassee, FL, and Kathryn Lynne Kelly of LaGrange, GA; and three grandchildren, Patrick Michael III, Emily Marissa, and Charles James Kelly. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Coleman Weathers of Macon, GA, her sister, Karol Weathers Griffith (Edward) and their children Clay and Coleman of Suwanee, GA, her brother, Charles Harold Weathers (Millie) and their children, Annemarie and Chase of St. Marys, GA, her uncle Benjamin Weathers (Linda) of Ashland, AL, her aunt, Jeanette Mason, of Valley, AL, and numerous other relatives.
The Memorial Mass for Kathy will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Reverend Kevin Hargaden officiating.
The services to celebrate Kathy’s life will begin with a Rosary service on Thursday, September 16 from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary followed by visitation from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.
