Lawrence and his family were great friends and supporters of 
 Kleen-Tex.  His father, Grover , joined the company as one of its first employees in, as I recall, 1969.  Many stories come to mind when I remember Lawrence who served in many capacities including the transportation department. 

One memorable morning when a dock door was opened we were shocked ton find an empty trailer where the night before when the door was closed the trailer was fully loaded with shop towels we had manufactured. The theft was investigated and a reward for information was posted. 

It was  a month, before Lawrence recalled that a truck driver at a dye house in  North Georgia had once asked him the directions to our plant in LaGrange. This was a clue that led to breaking the case. That driver had been instructed  to come to LaGrange and help transfer a load of shop towels from one trailer to his trailer and to return the load to the a dye house. 

Two KT employees  confessed to have conspired with the dye house manager to pull the load away from the KT dock, back it to the dye house's trailer,  transfer the load and deliver it to the dye house. Their dye house driver was apparently unaware that the shop towels were stolen. The dye house manager was forced to pay retribution and his company lost all future business. The two KT employees were fired, forced to pay retribution and lost all respect of their former colleagues. Very sad. 

I am reminded of the old saying, attributed to mid nineteenth century author Sir Walter Scott.  "Oh, what at tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive."

Lawrence earned the reward and will always be remembered as  the  man who sleuthed  the critical clue and protected KT from future losses at the hands of those criminals.

Kleen-Tex was well served by Lawrence and the Edmondson family and they will always be appreciated and praised by those of us who were involved in the company at that time.
