Malcom Vernon Dison, 83, of LaGrange, GA passed away in his home surrounded by family in the early morning hours of January 2, 2021.

Malcom was born November 10, 1937 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Thomas Melvin Dison and Etta B. Dison. He graduated from Baker High School in Columbus GA and following graduation he joined the Navy at the age of 17 and spent 4 years aboard the USS O'Brien. Following the Navy, he attended Columbus College where he was a part of the Columbus college Baseball team. After college, Malcom managed multiple Firestone stores. After he retired from Firestone, he went to work for Mike Patton Auto sales as the general manager. Late in life he opened his own small car lot, Trinity Motors, where he spent his time after retirement working for himself. Malcom became an ordained minister on September 28, 1975 by authority and order of Oakside Baptist Church. He preached at many churches, but never felt he had the calling to become a full time Pastor. He felt the Lord called him to fill the gap by being the interim Pastor at many churches around Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him

Malcom is survived by his wife, Mildred L. Dison; children, Lisa Kathryn Shivers “Kathy and Stan”, Reginald Thomas Dison “Tommy and Betty”, Sheryl Lynn Dison “Sherry”, Kimberly Smallwood “Kim and Chad”, Tracy Kristina Thompson “Tracy & Chuck”; 9 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren

Daddy, THANK YOU is simply not enough! You were a special man the first and only man to love me unconditionally. You were a hard worker and provided for us. Protected us and guided us, but most of all you prayed for us. You taught us to look to God always not just during certain times. You taught us Grace was for all not just some and to always be a light in a dark world, to help others because some day we may need help. You were my hero. My rock in an unbalanced world . My security when I felt unsafe. Daddy I miss you and will love you forever. Forever a daddy’s girl.

Daddy - you were the best daddy in the world . Always working hard to provide for your family and doing it with a smile. Thank you for bringing us up in a Christian home. Although we all did some things we aren’t proud of and made some mistakes as all humans do, we came back to our roots and always will. You were an amazing man of God and an amazing father . We will see you again. I know you’re having an amazing time in heaven, but we sure do miss you here .

I attended church with Malcolm at Faith Baptist Church and am friends with Sherry and Tracy and Chuck and the family! I loved to hear him sing! My favorite was when he sang the Potter and the Clay! I know he will be missed but he is walking the streets of glory with Preacher Charles who joined him in glory on the same day! Heaven is sweeter! Love and prayers to the family! Kevin and I love y’all! ❤️🙏🏻

Words can not explain how painful it is of loosing Uncle Vernon. I know each of you are hurting so much, but yet rejoicing where he is now. Without a doubt he is at peace and celebrating with his Heavenly family that have been waiting on him. His Dison family now is complete and oh how wonderful it must be. But that doesn't take away the pain we feel here knowing we will be lonely and missing him so very much. I love you all so very much.
Love,
Sue
