

Buddy was born December 22, 1926 in LaGrange, son of the late William Hardy Phillips and Annie Clyde Darden Phillips. He was a lifelong area resident and a member and former treasurer of Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church. Buddy was a Dairyman and Cattleman and also drove a School Bus for the Troup County School System for over 20 years.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Shepperd H. Phillips and Louise Phillips Oglesby, John T.
(Hazel) Phillips, Joe H. (Ruth) Phillips, and W. Elmer (Vivian) Phillips; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances (Henry) Hogg; two nieces, Annice Brazell and Emily Phillips; and a nephew, Arnold Phillips.
Survivors include his nephews, Shepperd H. (Betty) Phillips, Jr. of LaGrange, Joe H. Phillips, Jr. of LaGrange, Kenneth (Crystal) Phillips of Cullman, AL, and William ‘Jackie’ (Sherry) Hogg of LaGrange; nieces, Joann Noles of Dallas, GA, Joy Grote of LaGrange, Judy Phillips of LaGrange, and Doris (Frank) Bray of LaGrange; 19 grand nephews and nieces and several great- grand nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. Meg Jackson Clark and Chris Wilkie officiating. A private burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will gather to receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and immediately following the service on Tuesday.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to either the Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity in memory of Marcus Emmett ‘Buddy’ Phillips.
