It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Mary Frank Magouirk, of LaGrange, Georgia, announces her passing on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, at the age of 97.
Born on January 21, 1928, in Troy, AL, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Benjamin Frank Smith and Mary Catherine Stephens Smith. She will be remembered most for her dedication to her family, she lived her life as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and treasured friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rossie “Ross” Lane Magouirk; son, Rossie Lane Magouirk, Jr., and daughter, Robin White.
Mary lived with joyful purpose and creative passion, she enjoyed reading books, was very talented at quilting and cross stitching, delighted in embroidery, needlepoint, sewing, cake decorating, and loved water skiing. A woman of grace and strength, she was an advocate for breast cancer awareness and a proud survivor.
Mary shared over 63 beautiful years with her late husband, Ross Magouirk. Together, they explored 48 states on his Harley-Davidson, creating unforgettable memories—even making special motorcycle trips to visit their grandchildren, a story cherished by all who knew them.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Gary (Tara) Magouirk of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Tiffany (Vince) Gallagher, Megan (Adam) Gillhouse, Mary Christina (Chris) Parkinson, and Danielle (Gary) Steen; great grandchildren, Rossie Lane, Lilli and Grant Gillhouse, McKenzie Norris, Jaxon Ortiz, Temperance Studenwalt, Colten, Taylor, Harper, Layne, Callie Ann, Parkinson, Claire, Garrett Lane, Hudson Steen; great great grandson, Miller Norris; brother, C.R. (Ilene) Smith and their son Scott (Stephanie) Smith; other relatives and friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 13, 2025 with a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The Reverend Mike Hornsby will officiate, and burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
