Lee was born May 12, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, M.L. Seagraves, Jr. and Jamie Longino Seagraves; a sister-in-law, Mickey M. Stimpson; a great-nephew, Thomas Patrick McMahon, III; and several aunts and uncles.
A 1965 graduate of Murphy High School in Atlanta, Lee voluntarily enlisted into the United States Army in 1967, serving as a proud member of the Artillery 1st Cavalry during the Vietnam War. Lee fought in the battles of Que Son Valley, Quang Tri, A Shau, Khe Sahn, and Tay Ninh, achieving the rank of Sergeant and earning multiple service awards including two Bronze Star Medals for Valor and a Silver Star Medal.
After leaving the service, Lee was an active brother of Kappa Sigma Fraternity while attending LaGrange College before joining his uncle in business at Jack Davis Concrete Company. Lee spent the later years of his career in the real estate industry as a Realtor with CB Spinks, Brown, Durand Realtors, earning the Troup County Board of Realtors Professional Achievement Award in multiple years.
Lee was an avid outdoorsman, with a lifelong interest in hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was to be at Lake Martin, Alabama hosting friends and family of all ages. A born storyteller, Lee was known for his quick wit, ready laugh, and larger-than-life personality.
Lee is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Stimpson Seagraves; three children, Jamie E. Seagraves, Mitchell D. Seagraves, and Lindsey S. Owensby (Brandon); four grandchildren, Henning M. Daniel, William T. Owensby, Luke H. Owensby, and Charlotte Perry Seagraves. He is also survived by a sister, Charlotte S. Brady (Dan); a brother-in-law, Turner Stimpson; a niece, Jackie B. McMahon (Tommy); two nephews, Bill Brady (Amanda) and Michael Stimpson; a great-niece, Dana M. Stubbs, and a great-nephew, Jack W. Brady; their children and many cousins.
Visitation with the Seagraves family will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 15, 2021 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with service celebrating the life of Lee Seagraves immediately following at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may contribute to Heart of West Georgia in memory of Lee Seagraves.
