Mr. Anderson was born July 22, 1939 in LaGrange, son of the late Newton Wilkerson Anderson and Beulah Benton Anderson. He was a lifelong area resident and was a former LaGrange Police officer and the retired owner of Autoland, Inc. and Anderson Investment Group. He was a board member of the Troup County CrimeStoppers and was involved with many automobile trade associations throughout his career. He was a member of the Murphy Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Anderson; daughter, Kathy (Herb) Dremann; sons, Richard Glenn (Debbie) Anderson, Barry (Catherine) Anderson and Lane (Tina) Anderson, all of LaGrange; step-children, Ginger (Bob) Newton of Westminster, SC, Kim Watson and Kinnie (Dusty) Spradley, both of Townville, SC, and Juanita Gates of LaGrange; a special cousin, Roger Pannell of LaGrange; an aunt, Elizabeth Harlin of Lanett, AL; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson, and his beloved dog, Molly.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with Malcolm Dyson officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will gather to receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
