Mr. Key was born November 12, 1924 in Woodland, AL, son of the late John David Key and Theodosia Daniel Key. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and later worked for Civil Service at the naval Ship Yard before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Esther Bisby Key.
Survivors include his sister, Esther Stephens of LaGrange; one niece; and numerous nephews.
The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Humane Society in memory of Mr. Robert Newell Key.
