Roy Warner Blanton Jr.

Dr. Blanton was born May 29, 1935 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Roy W. Blanton, Sr. and Jane Boland Blanton. He was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Dr. Blanton was a 1963 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a Doctorate in mechanical engineering. As certified professional engineer, he divided is career between academics, research, and consulting. Dr. Blanton was employed with University of Alabama, Huntsville, AL as a Professor before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle M. Blanton of LaGrange, GA; daughter, Suzanne E. Blanton of LaGrange, GA; and a son and daughter-in-law, Steven E. and Mary P. Blanton of Alpharetta, GA.

Graveside memorial services will be held 3:00 P.M., Monday, May 17, 2010 in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA with Mrs. Elsie Fields officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice LaGrange, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 in memory of Dr. Roy W. Blanton, Jr.
