Born on August 10, 1941, in LaGrange, Georgia, Sonny was the son of the late Solon Hill Boggus Sr. and Florence Geiger Boggus.
Sonny grew up in LaGrange, where he attended LaGrange High School and began his lifelong relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Judith Gail Mullinax. After high school, he pursued higher education at Auburn University, where he earned a degree in pharmacy, setting the stage for a distinguished career in healthcare.

In 1976, they moved to Gainesville, Georgia, where Sonny led the project for the construction of Lanier Park Hospital. Upon the completion of the facility, Sonny was appointed President and CEO. In 1980, the Boggus family relocated to Marietta, Georgia, where Sonny continued his leadership role, taking on the responsibilities of President and CEO at Parkway Regional Hospital.
Sonny retired from HCA in 1997 after more than two decades of service to the healthcare industry. He spent the following 12 years as a consultant for several healthcare holding companies, sharing his expertise and experience with organizations across the country.
When not traveling for work, Sonny and Judy enjoyed exploring the world together, creating memories with their children and cherished grandchildren.
Sonny served his community as a committed Rotarian as well as a Deacon and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. And in his leisure, Sonny loved spending days playing golf at the Highland County Club with his group of friends called The Elite 16.
