

Susan Funk Stewart, born September 27, 1941, in Pasadena, California, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Susan shared a life of love and partnership with her husband, John C. Stewart Jr. Together, they built a home and raised their family while living in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Cincinnati, before ultimately settling in LaGrange, Georgia in 2004. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John C. Stewart Jr.
A devoted Christian servant, Susan loved her Lord and Savior deeply and lived out her faith each day. She was a dedicated student and teacher of the Bible, actively volunteering, leading, and participating in numerous Bible studies and church activities throughout the LaGrange community. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a source of strength and encouragement to those around her.
Susan was also a Master Gardener who found great joy in all things that grow. She shared her passion through her volunteer work at the Hills & Dales Estate, where she lovingly helped care for the beautiful grounds. Whether tending a garden or nurturing relationships, she had a gift for bringing life and beauty to everything she touched.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest joy came from her family. Susan is survived by her two sons, Jeff (& Kim) and John III (Jay, & Kelle); her three grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Tyler, and Kylie; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Rev. Steve Funk, along with his family, all of whom will carry forward her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Susan will be remembered for her caring spirit, her unwavering faith, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her presence was a steady source of comfort and love, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held on May 7, 2026, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Susan’s memory to the American Heart Association, Covenant OPC Church (P.O. Box 667, LaGrange, GA 30241), Hills & Dales Estate (1916 Hills & Dales Dr., LaGrange, GA 30240), or Explorers (PO box 425, Dickson, TN 37056-0425).
She will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
