Susan Atkins Tankersley

Susan was a woman of unwavering faith whose life reflected her love for the Lord and her dedication to serving others. A faithful member of Shawmut Nazarene Church, she lived her faith through acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity.

She found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life. Susan had a servant's heart and devoted countless hours volunteering with Hospice, offering comfort and care to those in need. She was also known for her remarkable card ministry, faithfully sending countless cards filled with encouragement, prayers, and love to family, friends, and even strangers. Her thoughtful words touched more lives than anyone could ever know.

Susan enjoyed crafting, spending time in the beauty of the mountains and by the lake, and she was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Whether cheering on Alabama, creating something by hand, or enjoying God's creation outdoors, she found joy in life's simple blessings.

She is preceded in death by parents Art and Marilyn Boller, loving husband of 40 years Ralph Atkins, brothers Jerry Boller and Greg Boller.

Those left to cherish her memory are loving husband of 15 years Larry Tankersley of Lanett, AL, brother Joey (Barbara) Boller of Murfreesboro, TN, daughter Andrea (Jeff) Henderson of Lagrange, GA, son Mike (Terri) Atkins of Lincoln, AL, step- daughter Carol Hollis of Silver Hill, AL, step-daughter Cathy (Tracy) Crosson of Lanett, AL, step-daughter Christy (Jeff) Adams of Huntsville, Al, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

More than anything, Susan will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving spirit, and the way she made everyone feel seen, cared for, and prayed for. Her legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
