William Hudson

Mr. Hudson was born April 3, 1929 in LaGrange, son of the late J. D. Hudson and Janie Hill Hudson. He was a 1945 graduate of the Georgia Military Academy, 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his Bachelors Degree and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and some graduate studies at Auburn University. Mr. Hudson was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Europe during the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Hudson was a retired farmer and was later employed with Smith Barney as a financial advisor before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Hill Hudson, sister, Ellen Pinson Hudson, and a brother, Charles D. Hudson.

Mr. Hudson served on many boards and organizations during his career including serving as past leader of the Boy Scouts; past president of the Rotary Club of LaGrange; past president of the Highland Country Club; past member of the Charter Bank Board of Directors; proud member of the Self Help Harbor; and charter member of the LaGrange ROMEO’s (Real Old Men Eating Out).

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Traylor Hudson; three children, Katherine Hudson (Wayne) Livingston, Martha Hudson (David) Rothwell, and Franklin Traylor (Jane) Hudson; six grandchildren, Jon Livingston, Hudson Rothwell, Hamilton Rothwell, Frank Hudson, Jr., Caroline Hudson, and Bobby Hudson; three nieces, Jane Alice Hudson Craig, Ellen Hudson Harris, and Ida Hudson Russell; and one nephew, Charles D. Hudson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Ida Cason Callaway Chapel of First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul Baxter and Reverend Paul Blair officiating. A private burial will be in the Traylor Family Cemetery, Gabbettville Community.

The family will receive friends at the home of his wife, Mary Ann Hudson, 1201 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA.
