Mrs. Winnie was born February 14, 1921 in Woodland, AL, daughter of the late Joseph Oscar Parker and Viola Cornelia Wilson Parker. She and her late husband, E.H. Baker, Jr. owned and operated Baker Battery Co. for many years. She was a member at Loyd Presbyterian church, where she was a faithful choir member and a member of the Molly Darden Circle.
Survivors include her children Terry and Lynn Baker, Nancy B. and Hardy Dumas, and Susan B. and Michael Elliott; sister, Josie Mae Teal; grandchildren, Shelley Skinner, Kacey Cochran, Josh Baker, Samuel Dumas, Nathan Dumas, Jesse Elliott, Eli Elliott, Rebekah Elliott and Ezra Elliott; great-grandchildren, Canon Skinner, McLain Skinner, Baker Skinner, Sydney Cochran, Wade Cochran, Stella Baker, Max Baker, Deklan Baker, Abram Elliott, Rachel Elliott, Scarlet Elliott, and Josiah Elliott.
At her request, Mrs. Winnie will lie in state at her home, 801 Old West Point Road, where the family will gather and receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Loyd Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rix Threadgill and Rev. Greg Norred officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Although Mrs. Winnie loved flowers, an option for donations would be either Loyd Presbyterian Church (550 Upper Glass Bridge Road, LaGrange, GA 30240) or Hospice LaGrange (1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240) in memory of Mrs. Winnie Parker Baker.
