Alfred Peter Miller

Alfred Peter Miller (July 15, 1934 – January 10, 2021) Alfred “Fred” Peter Miller went to his eternal resting place with Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon in a local hospital, due to complications of the COVID 19 Virus and Dementia. Services for Mr. Alfred will be done by Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA; beginning with visitation on Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday January 14, 2021 at 9:00 am and will end with a procession to the church at 10:30 am. A mass of Celebration of Life for Mr. Alfred will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven at 11:00 am with Msgr. Danny Torres officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrus Cove cemetery in Lake Arthur.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Betty Jean Poole Albritton Miller; his seven children, Zora “Paula” Anderson of Nome, AK; Ben (Vicki) Miller of Lake Charles, LA; Marie (Greg) Barnes of Groesbeck, TX; Karen Ledford of Lake Charles, LA; Kristie (Dick) Harrell of Groesbeck, TX; Tony (Kathy) Miller of Lake Charles, LA; Rusty (Janice) Miller of Baton Rouge, LA and Betty’s three children, Jean (Cheryl) of Nederland, TX; Edie Ramsey of San Antonio, TX; Deanna Wolford of Brookland, TX. 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Tommy Miller.

Pall-Bearers are grandsons: Michael Anderson, Jordan Miller, Jake Wolford, Justin Rasberry, Tyler Moore, Caleb Sutherland, Terry McDaniel, and RJ Trainham.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his 7 children, Loula Mae Boudoin Miller; his parents, Dupre and Zora Miller; his brothers, Jimmy Miller of Egan; Dwight Miller of Lake Arthur; one granddaughter Lyndsey Mae Harrell and great grandson Gabriel Trey Rasberry.

Mr. Alfred retired from Citgo refinery in 1998, as a Maintenance Coordinator. After retiring from Citgo Refinery, he continued to work as a maintenance/driver for Villa Maria Assisted Living and then as a school crossing guard for Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s department. He was an avid shrimper / fisherman on his favorite boat the “Night Hawk”. He loved his Cajun heritage and was an active member and past president of the Calcasieu Chapter of the Cajun French Music Association. Alfred and his deceased wife, Lou, were active members with Christ the King Church prior to the church becoming its own parish. He along with his wife, Betty were very active members with Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church. He was very blessed to be a Eucharistic Minister. Alfred was an usher and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus member. He enjoyed taking part in mission projects in the Lake Charles area, especially involving carpenter work. He once made a mission trip to Nicaragua, which he was very proud of doing. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Alfred Miller to a charity of your choice as he was a generous donor to local, state and national non-profits.

I was always glad to see Mrs Betty and Mr Alfred when Mary Campbell (my stepmother) was sick. They came every day. On that last night they were both on the bed over with us all. Thru the years many laughs and tears shared. Praying for the family

My sympathies to all-what a great man with a loving soul! Many wonderful memories-I also called him « My second Dad on Earth, after dad died. He was there for both of my parents in many ways! I will be there with you all. Sending hugs of comfort for now. ❤️
