

Alpha “Marie” Key McClelland, 91, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Lake Charles Care Center. She was very creative with arts and crafts, loved to paint, sing, and loved flowers. Anything she could tear down and rebuild, she would. Marie was a dedicated servant to her children, family, friends, and was a faithful member of her home church in Houston, TX, “Lakewood Church” for about 20 years before moving to Orange, and then she was a song leader at Victory Life Church there.
She is survived by her son, Thomas “Tom” McClelland, III and wife Virginia of Sulphur; three daughters, Mildred Frances Herriger, Myra Joyce Peterson and husband William “Skip”, Mary Katherine McClelland, all of Lake Charles; one brother, Clifford Glen Key and wife Joann of Newton, TX; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Thomas O. McClelland, Jr.; parents, Clifford and Lura Key; one son, David Wayne McClelland; two brothers, James L. Key and William R. Key; sister, Dorothy Pearl Bostic; and a grandson, Michael S. McClelland.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Officiating will be Pastor Glen Massey and Pastor Gerald Ratcliff. Visitation will be that day, from 12:00pm until the time of the service. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City, TX.
