Anita Darlene Morgan died July 1, 2018 in her residence. She was born in Carnegie, OK and lived in Lake Charles most of her adult life. She was a charter member of Murray Street Baptist Church, which later became East Ridge Baptist Church where she was actively involved in her church, which she loved immensely.
She retired from Sears in the men’s clothing department and also worked as a voting commissioner in Calcasieu Parish. She was an avid note & card writer sending them to her friends with words of encouragement as her special ministry. She loved attending Hixson Funeral Homes LIFT programs, and she volunteered at Memorial Hospital as a pink lady. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by son, Dan (Danny) Morgan, Jr. and wife Debbie of Sulphur, LA, daughter Danette Morgan Sherwood and husband Chip of Abita Springs LA. She has eight grandchildren, Eric Grosze (& wife Keilah), Adam Grosze (& wife Maria), Jason Grosze (& wife Amanda), Matthew Sherwood (& wife Heather), Andrew Sherwood (& wife Meredith), Zachary Morgan, Courtney Morgan Friday (& husband Kelby), Kaleigh Morgan and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Morgan, Sr., and daughter Karen Morgan Arnold.
Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 5pm - 8pm Thursday, July 5, 2018 and will continue at 9am Friday, July 6, 2018 at East Ridge Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be at 10am Friday, July 6, 2018 at the church with the Rev. Alan Weisampel officating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to East Ridge Baptist Church.
