

She was a lifelong resident of Grand Chenier. She was a member of Saint Eugene Catholic Church. She served her church contributing her time to the Alligator Festival.
Mrs. Wainwright is survived by two sons Carol “Zeke” Wainwright and Walter Wainwright III, and wife Bonnie, one daughter Shelia Miller and husband Joseph Carroll, one daughter in law Jerrie Wainwright, two sisters Juanita Nunez and Wynona Miller, and one brother Huey Mhire and wife Sue. Mrs. Wainwright has seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wilson Mhire and Olive Trahan Mhire, son Ladd Wainwright, sister Dorothy Mhire, and her loving husband of forty nine years.
She was educated at the University of Southern Louisiana and McNeese State University. She touched the lives of many students, teaching school for 28 years. Her tenure included Johnson Bayou High School, Sweetlake Elementary, South Cameron High School, and Grand Chenier Elementary. She was a member of the Louisiana Association of Educators and the Cameron Association of Educators. She loved gardening, cooking, and having guest often showing her southern hospitality.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Saint Eugene Catholic Church in Grand Chenier. Committal service will follow in the Saint Eugene Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held in Saint Eugene’s Catholic Church Hall in Grand Chenier on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 2PM until 9PM and will continue on Monday from 8AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 6 PM in the church hall. Father Richard (Uche) Adiukwu will officiate.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons Craig, Allen, Jeff, and Brady Wainwright, Matt Miller and Ronald Winch. Mrs. Wainwrights nephews will also serve as honorary pallbearers including special friends, Buster McKoin, Shane Broussard, Ricky Canik, and Larry Abshire.
