Bessie Lee Richard

She was born February 5, 1921 in Opelousas, LA, and graduated from Opelousas High School. She married in 1940 and moved to Lake Charles in 1958, and worked as a bookkeeper for George Theriot. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.

Bessie is survived by her son, Aaron Allen Richard of Lake Charles; daughter, Doris and husband Adolph Marcantel of Iowa; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They were the love of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peter Richard, parents, Samuel and Bessie Wilson Bertheaud, brother, Sidney Bertheaud, sisters, Ethel Swinney and Ollie Long.

Her service will be 10:00am, Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church of Lake Charles. Father Jay Alexius will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary at 6:30pm and resume Thursday from 8:00am until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
