Betty Ann Dartez

Born in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, on April 18, 1947, Betty Ann attended Lake Arthur High School and McNeese State University. A gifted artist with a carefree spirit, she created and painted every day. As the owner of Mud Bug Treasures for 50 years, her shop was a place where all were welcome and she generously shared her time, pottery, and artistic talents with all who entered, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Catherine Hoag; her brother, Robert “Bobby” Hoag; and her son, Robert Dartez.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 58 years, James Dartez; her daughter, Kristi Dartez; and her beloved grandchildren, David Scott Dartez, Jessica Dartez, and Brandon Dartez.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 1pm at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Betty Ann Dartez’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
