Betty Getz Thompson

Betty Getz Thompson age 85 of Phoenix, Arizona went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2026. Betty was born January 26, 1941 in Lock Haven Pennsylvania to John and Sara (Saltsman) Getz. Betty grew up in Renovo, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of St. Joe’s class of 1959.

She met and married her husband Richard ”Dick” Thompson in 1962. Betty and Dick were married for 40 years. Betty and Dick were longtime residents of Bristol, Connecticut.

In 1980 Betty and Dick moved their family to Phoenix, Arizona.

Betty worked for Peralta Elementary School as a teacher’s aide where she was known for her kindness and dedication.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Thompson; her parents; and her sister Beverly Foley.

Betty is survived by her four children: Michael Thompson (Sherry) of Phoenix, Arizona; Kevin Thompson of Goodyear, Arizona; Wade Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona and Beth Hughes (Robert) of Hineston, Louisiana.

Affectionately known as “Gram” she was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, Brandon, Cassidy, Dalaney, Keegan, Kyle, Kasey, Samantha, Dillon, Chalayne, Caleb, and Chloe. 11 great-grandchildren Elyse, Audrey, Kollins, Kole, Sarissa, Jaxon, Bristol, Trinity, Delilah, Emery and Hallie all of whom brought her immense joy.

Betty’s legacy is one of steadfast love, quiet strength, and enduring kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the heart of her family -their “GRAM”

Cremation was entrusted to J.E. Hixson Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life Service will be held in Phoenix in May of 2026.
