Brenda Lynn (Bailey) McCall (formerly Fontenot) was born on October 20, 1939, and ascended into the loving arms of our Lord on August 4, 2026. She was a strong, faithful, loving, courageous, and loyal wife, mother and grandmother affectionately known as “Nana Brenda”. As a mother, she poured her entire being into raising her children to be faithful, educated, well-rounded and successful individuals.
Growing up in a farming family in East Lake Charles, Brenda cherished memories of riding her horse, Blazer, and hauling cattle with her father and brother. She attended Lake Charles High School where she was a very proud majorette and later shined as a “beauty” at McNeese State University. After graduating from McNeese her career was remarkably diverse. She was the 98th licensed dental hygienist in Louisiana and worked for decades for Drs. Bass and Stevens in Lake Charles. She then supported her husband Bill in the insurance business, running Bill Fontenot Agency like a well-oiled machine for decades. Her next endeavor was at Cameron State Bank where she traveled the world as a tour director for banking clients, forging lasting friendships. Brenda experienced great pleasure in providing her clients with lifelong travel memories.
After losing her first husband, Bill Fontenot, in 1997, Brenda often stated she would never remarry. However, her marriage to Bob McCall in 2013 became one of her greatest blessings. Bob always treated her like a princess. She loved and appreciated him deeply. Together they traveled extensively with and without their children and grandchildren. They both found great joy watching their big blended family flourish. Because of their shared faith, they attended mass daily. Together they were constantly doing for others in one way or another. They were able to share a beautiful last chapter in both of their lives.
She is survived by three of her children Renee’ Fontenot Free of Slaughter, LA; Todd Fontenot (Beth) of Lake Charles, LA; Andre’ Fontenot (Marianne) of Iowa, LA; daughter-in-law Cindi Reed Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren Kade Brashear, Cydney Free, Lauren Bacon (Dr. Joshua Bacon), Emily Fontenot, Corey Free, Jacob Fontenot, Gavin Fontenot, Garin Fontenot, and Will Fontenot; step grandsons Ford Garon and Fox Garon; and great grandsons Elijah and David Bacon.
She is also survived by her stepchildren Craig McCall (Damaris) of Humacao, Puerto Rico; Sarah Canup, Chris McCall (Julie) and Erin Alley (Kevin) all of Lake Charles, LA; step grandchildren Gabriela McCall, Drew Alley, Cameron Canup, Katie McCall, Blake Alley, Will Canup, Thomas Alley, Emma McCall and Luke Alley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William Charles “Bill” Fontenot; her son Dru Fontenot; her second husband Robert Carroll “Bob” McCall; her parents Reginald Fredrick “Fred” and Elgin Duncan Bailey; brother Reginald Fredrick “Reggie” Bailey; sisters Mary Elgin Bailey and Vickie Bailey; stepson-in-law Chris Canup; and step grandson Michael McCall.
