Carol Foley Brunsgaard

Carol was born on December 21, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to Raymond F. and Helena C. Foley. She was the cherished, youngest child of six children. She had four older brothers that served in World War 2, and she remembered many hours of listening to the radio with her parents, praying for her brothers, who all returned safely.

Carol graduated from Langley High School. After graduation she became a legal secretary and the organist at her church. There she met and married the love of her life, James E.J. Brunsgaard in 1951. They were married for 64 years and had five children. They include Kathy Carter of Lake Charles, LA, John Brunsgaard of Rogers, AR, Marybeth Brunsgaard of Maryville, TN, Anne Brunsgaard of Nagaoka, Japan, and Jim Brunsgaard (deceased). Carol had nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She loved to play with them and watch them grow. They all remember her fondly.

Carol's children were the joys of her life. She was a wonderful mom with a fun-loving personality. She was proud of her children and their accomplishments. She made sure they all had the opportunity to go to college, since she was unable to go herself.

She loved traveling and went on many fun trips with her family. She was also an accomplished actress in Community theater productions. One of her greatest joys was reading and she read thousands of books. She remained very active in the Episcopal church all her life.

Carol will be missed by everyone who met her. She was always kind and generous to others, thinking of others before herself.

COVID robbed us of several more years of her companionship. Carol is now at peace knowing that all her children were with her when she died. She's reunited with her beloved husband who she missed so much after his death in 2015 and her son, Jim.

Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at St. Michael and All Angels, 123 W. Sale Street, Lake Charles, LA 70605. Carol will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchitoches, LA at a later date.

Donations in her name may be sent to St. Jude's Hospital or to St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.
