Chester Vassos

Chester was born in Pittsburg, PA and moved to the lake area in 1949 at the age of 14. His family was most important to him and he loved them dearly, especially his only grandson, Johnathon. He worked for Pumpelly Tire Center and McFillin Rent-A-Center where he retired. He was a true mechanic always carrying tools in his pockets and working on engine motors in his living room. He loved to shoot pool and bowl professionally to which he won several trophies. He was an avid fisherman and grass cutter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory are his daughter (who will always be Daddy’s little girl) , Melissa Lacomb of Sulphur, LA; grandson, Johnathon Lacomb and wife, Misty of Lake Charles, LA; six great-grandchildren, Colten, Zander, Ariana, Paityn, Jaryn and Cassidy; two sisters, Mary Sims of Brentwood, CA and Helen Domingos of Houma, LA; best friend and former son-in-law, Darren Lacomb; lifelong best friend, Bradley “Shorty” Williams.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Freda Vassos; the love of his life, Helen Octavia Reeves Vassos; brother, James Vassos; and grandmother, Helen Llamos.

A Celebration of his life will be 2:00pm Monday, February 9, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Danny Moore will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00am- 9:00pm, Sunday and will resume Monday 10:00am until time of service. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park.
