Dana Ann Hymel Daigle, whose generous heart touched the lives of so many, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Born on November 20, 1959, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Dana was the cherished daughter of Harry Lee Hymel and Jean Broussard Hymel.
Dana was deeply loved by her husband, Kurt Daigle, and their four sons, the late Brett Daigle (Joyce), Derek Daigle, Jeremy Daigle (Devin), and Jason Daigle (Becca). She was incredibly proud of her sons and adored her five grandchildren: Derek Jr., Elliot, Grayson, Daisy, and Madison Daigle. Her family was at the center of her life, and she was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.
Dana shared a close bond with her sister, Rachella Hymel Bohannon. Though Rachella lived in Tennessee, the sisters stayed close through weekly phone calls that often lasted for hours. Dana treasured her visits with Rachella, her husband, Ray, and their children, Jeff Bohannon and Julie (Justin) Baird.
Professionally, Dana was a caregiver in the truest sense. Her compassion for the elderly was not merely a skill but a calling. Those she cared for quickly became more than patients—they became friends. She formed deep, lasting relationships with them, treating each person with profound kindness, dignity, and genuine affection.
A member of Abundant Life Fellowship, Dana had a strong and abiding faith. She found constant comfort in prayer and prayed faithfully for those she loved.
Dana’s enormous heart extended to her love of animals, especially her dogs, Abby and Beaux. She also never met a stray she didn’t fall in love with and was always ready to show an animal a little extra love and kindness.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bryanah Martin for the exceptional care and dedication she showed Dana during her illness. Her compassion, along with the support of Allegiance Healthcare Hospice, brought great comfort to Dana and her family.
Dana was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brett Daigle, and her parents, Harry Lee Hymel and Jean Broussard Hymel.
A service celebrating Dana’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at J.E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70601.
