I have been waiting for the right words, but I still don't know what to say.....or how to say this, but.....Daniel Landry is my biological father.  I live in Tennessee but was born in Louisiana, where my mom lived when she met him in 1965 in Lake Charles at a venue where he was playing and singing one night  I came along in February 1966. I am 55.  My mom married someone else while she was pregnant with me who became my father figure and who never wanted me to know or develop a meaningful relationship with my true biological father because he was jealous. I have missed out on knowing him and he knowing me well, although we met and talked and visited a few times as I was growing up and then last when I was in my mid 30s. I regret not having a close relationship.  Back in mid May of 2021 I started having thoughts daily of him and   and on Monday May 17, 2021 I felt an overwhelming passion rise up inside me to play and sing music like never before. I have always loved singing and writing songs for the Lord,  but this felt very different to me, like it was an extension of my biological father in me wanting to play and sing in a whole new way and level. The same day and week I discovered a Nashville Grammy artist by the name of Mike Farris and fell in love with his jazzy New Orleans sounding bluesy soul country gospel music & met I thought about my dad Danny Landry this whole week from May 17 to May 22, when I felt compelled to look him up online for an obituary.  I was shocked to discover he had passed on May 17 and was having funeral and burial on May 22....at the very time I looked him up. I know this was more than coincidence. I believe it was Divine Providence. I am reaching out to offer my contact information so that I can connect with my remaining relatives. When I did see my dad as an adult, he told me I looked just like his mom, my paternal biological grandmother. I went to Sowela Tech with Danny in 1986-87 and remembered him immediately upon reading of his passing. We were always friends, all of us spent many an hour in classes together, he was a really nice man. Condolences to his family. RIP Danny

We were sorry to hear about the passing of our dear friend, Danny.  We are sharing y’all’s lose with our heartfelt sympathy and prayers. It was a pleasure knowing  him over the past 53 years. We met while working at Standard Supply together. We shared a many a good times, memories that will never be forgotten. May you Rest In Peace, in your Heavenly Home, our dear friend, Danny, until we meet again. Amen 🙏🏻

My condolences to Danny’s family –I know they’ll miss him greatly.  I met Danny through Berlin Fontenot when I was a freshman and he was a senior at Marion.  The three of us hung around together through all his years at Bayou Reproductions, the nights at the Village where Cookie and the Cupcakes played regularly (including “Matilda”), hanging out at Travis’s.  Good times.  We were free as birds with no real cares.  Even after he married, we used to hang around together at the little gym behind McNeese where he showed me how to weight train.  My life path took me away from Lake Charles, but I was able to chase him down a couple of years ago and spent a little time talking about the good times.  Not only was he a talented musician, he was always a genuinely good person. I feel like God looked forward to Danny returning home and has a special place for Danny to spend his eternity.  Rest in Peace Danny my friend.  Rest in Peace.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel Paul Landry of Denver, CO; daughter Lisa Catherine Landry Miller of Dana Point,CA; his brother, Leonard A Landry of Lake Charles, LA; his sister Mary Bruno and husband Don of Lake Charles, LA; several grandchildren and greatchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
