OBITUARY

Daniel Fred Monceaux

February 5, 1935July 1, 2020

Daniel Fred Monceaux, age 85, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2020. Daniel was born February 5, 1935 to Desponne and Ava Monceaux.

Daniel was a native of Kaplan and resident of Lake Charles for most of his life. He retired from the United States Postal Service after over 35 years. Daniel enjoyed coaching ASA Softball and was the Union President of the NALC for many years. While serving on the Boyscouts, he earned the Silver Beaver award and was a scout master for many years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Marie Mildred Monceaux; two daughters, Rebecca Slater of Lake Charles and Karen Monceaux of Groves, Tx; two sons, David L. Monceaux (Debbie) of Lake Charles and Anthony D. Monceaux (Kay) of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Eric Monceaux (Katie), Krystal Hetmer (Joe), Katrina Slater, Danielle Monceaux, Marci Cole, and Katelyn Monceaux; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Elodie Demarie; one brother, Cliff Monceaux (Sandra).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Desponne and Ava Monceaux; one brother, Joe Monceaux; six sisters, Marie Hebert, Lelia Clark, Jeanne Boudreaux, Agnes Faulk, Lucille Guidry and Anne Gaspard; and one great grandchild, Elaija.

The family will welcome family and friends on Saturday, July 4, 2020 beginning at 9:00am until the time of service. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am. The family ask that anyone attending the services to please wear a face mask.

I remember Mr. Monceaux well. He was the scout leader of Pack 3 when I was in the Cub Scouts back in 1967 and 1968. Rest in peace Mr. Monceaux.

Aunt Millie, David, Becky, Karen & Anthony,
I have fond memories of visiting with you when in Kaplan. Uncle Daniel always had a smile on & I can still hear him laugh. I hope the good memories will comfort you in the next days & years to come. My sympathy goes out to Aunt Millie and the family.
I was married to Daniels niece, Mary Lou Faulk for 50 years 10 months before she passed away.
Mary and I served in Daniel and Millies wedding on December 24, 1954. The point is, I have known Daniel for many, many years. I know that he was a good Christian person and will be rewarded in heaven
We will all miss him here but he is now resting and enjoying the reward the lord is providing

Aunt Millie, I am so sad about the death of Uncle Daniel. I extend my deepest condolences to the family. My prayer is that our awesome God will continue to hold, comfort, and strengthen all of you as you maneuver thru this sad time. We all loved Uncle Daniel, but God loved him more. I Remember Coach, I remember playing ASA Softball for him. He was a Great Coach. I will never forget those great times and his Sweet Smile. He was such a Great Man, and Great Coach. I’m So Sorry For Yalls Loss Karen and the Rest of Yalls Family!! But Take Comfort in knowing Y’all will see Him Again. I’m Praying For Y’all. ❤️
