Edison Louis Jones, 88, entered eternal rest on April 11, 2022, and is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ. Born in Hathaway, Louisiana, his family settled in Lake Charles. Winning a marble contest and being voted best dressed were great memories for him. After graduating from LaGrange High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force for four years. He later graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Architecture. His mind for details lead him to become a Certified Specification Writer for large commercial building projects. He received much recognition in the industry. His dreams as a young boy to move to Houston and be an Architect were all accomplished. At the age of 60, he started his own very successful business. After completing 55 years of work as an Architect, he retired at the age of 80.
Ed was so talented in many areas. He played the steel guitar, violin, piano, guitar and the flute. His skill on the steel guitar made him a valuable asset to country and western bands in high school, the air force and through college. After graduation, he ended his professional music career to focus on being a husband and father. He excelled at woodworking and landscaping, which he applied to many home remodeling projects.
Ed combined his passion for learning with his faithfulness to God by diligently studying his bible daily. He was a gentle, wise, and considerate man. He liked to share a pun and make you laugh, but in his quiet and kind way.
Ed is survived by the ultimate love of his life, Beverly Broussard Jones. They met on a blind date, married six months later and after 62 years of marriage, remained devoted to each other. He will be so missed by his daughter, Sharon K. Beaman and her husband, Barry. His two dear grandsons, Cody Valentine Beaman (wife, Michelle) and Travis W. Beaman are blessed to have had such a patient, loving grandfather who taught them so much. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Lawrence and Alice Lawrence (Al), and two brothers Frank Lopez (Rene) and Tommy Lopez (Paula). Ed was predeceased by his parents, Dora Lopez Melancon and Valentine Lopez.
The graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Memory Garden. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Oak Park Retirement Resort in Katy, TX at 3pm.
