She was a lifelong resident of Creole until her home was destroyed by storms in 2005 after which she became a resident of Lake Charles. She had been a faithful and serving member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic church most of her life until her living circumstances changed. She then began to attend Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart Catholic church.
Edith's life can best be summed up by the word GOODNESS. She was known for her sweet spirit, her quick wit, her infectious laughter and hilarious stories. Life had dealt ED some difficult circumstances on more than one occasion. She had already experienced losing all her possessions in 1957 during Hurricane Audrey. Always one to find the good in all circumstances, she would simply say "we didn't lose family. Things can be replaced.” Because of her incredibly positive attitude, she was always a joy to be around and a favorite family member to all. Whether she approved of your life choices or not, she never judged but always prayed for you to find your way back to the Lord. Anyone who tasted her cooking knows she missed her calling as a chef! Whenever anyone had a special occasion or a birthday coming, they could expect their favorite dish to be prepared by her. She cooked from her heart and showered love with every sprinkle of seasoning.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Bishop, her niece, Alice Frances Harmon, her brothers in law, Charlie Harmon, Raymond LeBlanc Sr., and her sisters Anna LeBlanc, and Gladys Harmon. She leaves in mourning her brother, Ferdinand Bishop, 4 nephews, Leonard Harmon Sr., Anthony Harmon, Raymond LeBlanc, Jr. and Willie Harmon, 3 nieces, Eve Leblanc, Lou Leblanc and Janet Dorsett. ED will be forever loved by a huge host of family and friends too numerous to list here. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at St. Rose DeLima Cemetery in Creole. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles staring at 9am with a rosary at 12pm. Words of comfort can be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhome.com
