Edna Hale Toerner

She was a certified tutor at Grand Lake School for 5 years, former President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and a loyal worker for the American Legion Bingo. Her greatest accomplishment was being married to the love of her life for 67 years, Paul E. Toerner and raising her 5 children: Paula Metts (Richard Metts), Rick Toerner (Sally Toerner), Mike Toerner(Joelle Toerner), Kathy Toerner, and Marie Hannie (Fred Hannie). She also assisted in raising 13 grandchildren and many, many more great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt. Edna Toerner “MawMaw” will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Caroline Underwood Hale.

Her service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Eric Van Zee will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and resume Friday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Chenier Perdue Cemetery.
