Elsie Ray Johnson

She was born September 13, 1934 in Lake Charles to Wesley Joseph Johnson and Anna Elise Champeaux-Johnson. She loved playing Bingo, Yahtzee and socializing with her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gilbert Wayne Johnson; infant daughter, Carmen Manuel; sister, Doris Ann Provost LeBlanc. Left behind to treasure her memory are her children, Reno Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Melonie Lester and husband Tommy, Jeremy Johnson, Cathy Corbello and husband C.H., Danny Manuel, Joey Manuel and wife Virgie, Renita Lawrence and husband Keith; brother Charles Vernon Johnson "Bubba"; 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Creek Cemetery in Oakdale, La. Visitation will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. and will resume at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, the day of the service and last until service time.
