Elsie was born to Charles and Euma Richard on June 26, 1926. She lived most of her life in Creole LA. until hurricane Rita forced her to move Sweetlake. She is now a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Elsie Graduated from Creole High School, Class of 1943. She was the last remaining member of her class.
Elsie enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. You would often find her cutting her grass or working in her flower or vegetable gardens. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their extra activities and waited and enjoyed their visits with their families as they grew. As the grandchildren began their working careers, she would follow their travels in her atlas book, knowing exactly where they would be.
Her traveling took her so many parts of the United States. Vacations with her children, then later with her siblings, then later with groups of friends. The stories of the adventures had lots of laughter and amazement of new places to explore.
Elsie loved hosting and celebrating holidays and birthdays. She loved to cook and bake from t-cakes to strawberry cake, from fig bars to shrimp dip and everything in between. Everyone had their favorite when they visited.
Elsie was very active in the Cameron Parish Council on Aging. She was asked to be a board member and accepted. She enjoyed Monday bingo and fellowship. She enjoyed the day trips offered. She participated in the Louisiana Senior Games held at McNeese State University in the spring and won many medals along the way. She was chosen Senior of the year for Cameron Parish in 2022.
