

Emery James Hebert, 78, of Lake Charles, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born to his late parents, Sandrez and Hattie Hebert in Ville Platte, LA on April 24, 1941. He was proud of his service in the United States Army, where he retired as a Captain. He was a graduate of LSU and a huge football fan of the Tigers. Emery loved to garden, cook, and entertain for family and friends. He was a superior Gourmet Cajun Chef and took pride in his cooking. In his words, "I invented blackened seafood well before Paul Prudhomme!" For many years, he was an avid boy scout leader and Eagle scout and mentored many younger boy scouts throughout the years. He taught them basic survival skills and spent a lot of time in Chicot State Park where he helped develop the arboretum there.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geri Hebert; daughters, Nicole Hebert and husband Gene Ivins of Houston, TX, Jackie Mannella and husband Troy of Austin, TX; brother, Jessie Hebert of Pensacola, FL; sister, Betty Landreneau of Ville Platte, LA; and four grandchildren, Dominique Ivins, Rhett Mannella, Alexandria Mannella, and Benjamin Mannella.
Emery is preceded in death by his son, Andy Hebert; along with his two brothers, Carroll Hebert and Ronnie Hebert.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Emery Hebert on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 12:00pm.
