

Louise was born in Gueydan, LA on September 26, 1922 to J.C and Willie Sarver; she has several degrees; B.S. from Bible College, B.S. from Eastern Michigan University, MED from McNeese University and an EDSP also from McNeese University she was also awarded The Poet of the Year. She taught first grade for many years. She had many hobbies including; Writing, painting, and poetry, she loved God and her family. Mrs. Powell held weekly prayer meetings in her home for over 30 years; she was also involved in small prayer groups, a Tuesday morning painting group and Friday night cell groups. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Those left to cherish her memories are three sons, Dr. David Powell and wife Wendy of Beaumont, TX, Daniel Powell and wife Rita of Lake Charles, LA and Donald Powell and wife Kathy of Houston, TX; four daughters, Sharon Dvorak and husband Dewaine of Appleton, WI, Martha Rounsavall of Lake Charles, LA, Maria Stutes of Moss Bluff, LA and Ruth Fruge and husband Karl of Bell City, LA; one sister; Ella Mae Brown of Lake Charles, LA; along with twenty-seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband William Carey Powell, one brother; J.C. Sarver, three sisters; Edith Ramby, Jessie Young and Elaine Boswell, all of Lake Charles, LA.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 11:00am until 2:00pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Prien Memorial Cemetery.
