Ernest Fruge, 90, of Lake Charles, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Harbor Hospice. He was born to his late parents, Delphan and Orelia Fruge on May 24, 1928 in Basile, LA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching his Westerns. He loved getting to go to the homeplace back in Basile, and loved sharing stories of his growing up years. Ernest served in the United States Navy between World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed French music and loved to go out dancing with his wife, Nola. In his latter years, he loved to wave at everyone who came by.
He is survived by his two sons, Roger Fruge and wife Linda of Iowa, Ernest J. Fruge and wife Angela of Lake Charles; two daughters, Linda Richard and husband Joseph of Bell City, Janet Spurgeon of Moss Bluff; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; along with four great great grandchildren.
Ernest is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nola Fruge; son, Donald Derouen; a daughter, Jolene Taylor; his parents; along with two brothers and three sisters.
