

Gary Hebert, 66, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born in Lake Charles, La., on November 16, 1945, and lived in Moss Bluff. He formerly resided in Durango, Colorado, where he graduated from high school, and Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and later retired from United Parcel Service, as a Center Manager. He was a longtime member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where he served on many church boards and committees. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed going to the Duck Camp to hunt. He frequently traveled to Colorado to fish for trout and Arizona to hunt wild game birds. In 1988 he drove with his father, Melvin Hebert, to Alaska, passing through Yellowstone National Park during the fires. He enjoyed financial investing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori DuBois and her husband, James, of Montgomery, Alabama; two grandchildren, Katherine DuBois and Alexandra DuBois of Montgomery, Alabama; two sisters, Judith Benoit, and her husband, James, of Lake Charles, and Cathy Lawson and her husband, Dennis, of Sulphur; and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Estelle Hebert of Moss Bluff; and sister, Jane Self of Sherwood, Arkansas.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. His funeral will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Funeral Home Chapel.
